QuestionHey Justin, just wanted to get a suggestion about Komplete by NI and if you have actually used any software from NI? Well I know you use the Maschine of course! But I really want to continue with music production and was wondering if Komplete would be the right thing to get? Thanks Answer

Komplete has become an huge element in my production these days.  I’d HIGHLY recommend it!  My current process includes Maschine, Komplete, Logic and sampling vinyl.

First real attempt at some house. Still not completely happy with the low end yet!

QuestionHi Justin, i'm a big fan of MPC's and finger drumming. I really like what you're doin' and been following you since you're first post of "Break it down" few years ago. I've got a question conserning unwanted rolls on my MPC 2000XL. I've also got Maschine but I'd love to practice on the 2K too, but these rolls really upset me. As we're in 2012 should i just stick on the new generation of pads or is there any advices you can give me to change that!!! Thanks so much. Thomas Answer

I’m assuming you referring to the double hit that occurs sometimes with MPC pads/triggers.  They can definitely get annoying!  I’ve noticed that by changing the pressure of my fingers and the angle I’m hitting the pad I can control when it happens.

I would suggest doing a finger drumming version of “8 on a hand” and getting a feel for making that double hit occur.  Once you know how to make the double hit happen on purpose it will be easier to keep it from happening accidentally.

As for the deeper question, “should I just stick on the new generation of pads” I would just follow your gut.  If you’re drawn to practice on more than one piece of gear do it but don’t sweat it if you’re not feeling it.

This is who I studied under when I went to college at UNC Charlotte.  He’s a BEAST!
